The snow is the protagonist
of the 24th edition of the Winter Marathon

For too much we've waited for it and finally, during 24th edition, the snow have returned to paint of white the streets of Winter Marathon. Extreme fun and great satisfaction for all 158 crews regulary started from Piazzale Brenta in Madonna di Campiglio at 14.00 hrs on Friday 20 January. After the first part of the route without any problem (except for the failure of one timekeeping equipment with the cancellation of two time trials in Collepietra), cars passed through the Trentino valleys and crossed the first passes (Palade -m. 1518-, Lavazè -m. 1808- e Pramadiccio -m. 1431-). Crews reached then Val di Fassa passing through Predazzo and Moena till the Time Control in Mazzin, resting a few minutes at the break for dinner in Canazei, without even thinking about what they would have expected at the restart. The rest is history: already on the first hairpin climb to the pass Pordoi -m. 2239- the snow began to fall making it difficult to run the cars (built until 1968), each with its own advantages and technical defects of road holding. The heavy snow has characterized the remaining 14 time trials (40 total on the race) that have made difficult for crews battling for final victory, because they incurred in some not perfect controls, due to the harsh conditions of the road: no exceprion also in time trials on the highest passes such as Campolongo -m. 1875-, Gardena -m. 2121- and Sella -m. 2240-. Then cars crosses Costalunga pass -m. 1752- and arrived at the Time Control in Carezza with still over 100 km to do and then resumed their march towards to the checkered flag. For the final ranking there were the last remaining 4 time trials on the insidious Mendola pass -m. 1363-: climbing to the summit the snow have falled again to make very difficult driving conditions. The arrival in Madonna di Campiglio during a dense snowfall has seen transit to final inspection 137 crews (of which 120 regulary classified, representing 5 different nations). For the final ranking were considered valid 38 of the 40 time trials: really good considering the conditions found on check points by time keepers. Fully satisfied also the organizers who have to manage 'live' a race that presents greater difficulties than the other for the unknown conditions that can be changed sometimes during it, as happened in 2008. The avalanche danger (not so much snow falling) can cause the closure of one or more passes, outlining the use of alternative routes prepared before the race. See you in 25th edition!

24th edition goes to Salviato, Canè still on top at TAG Heuer Barozzi Trophy

Ezio and Francesca Salviato, father and daughter from Varese, add their name to the prestigious roll of honour of the Winter Marathon. A particular rematch against the unlucky experience of last edition when they gave up for a mechanical problem on the same Lancia Aprilia with which they have imposed in front of 157 verified crews. Second and third place for the two drivers of Museo Storico Alfa Romeo, Alessandro Gamberini (Alfa Romeo Giulietta TI, 1962) who preceded Fabio Salvinelli (Alfa Romeo Giulia TI Super, 1964). 50th place for the ex Formula 1 driver Ivan Capelli who, on a 1965 Volvo PV544 drived by Gianni Lenzi, have been satisfied for his participation. Best in show of 2012 edition is also the snow who accompained all crews for the second part of the race on several mountain passes as Pordoi, Campolongo, Gardena, Sella, Costalunga and Mendola. The big snowfall continued till the final passage control in Madonna di Campiglio. In the afternoon the event continued with MotorStorica Trophy reserved to all pre war sports car: the winner was another time (after the victory of 2011) the crew composed by Sandrolini-Venturi on their 1937 Citroen 11 AL Roadster who preceeded the 1932 Fiat 508 S Balilla Sport drived by Spagnoli-Parisi and the other 1937 Citroen 7C Cabriolet of the crew Bonfante-Morellato. After that came the time for the TAG Heuer Barozzi Trophy, reserved to the first 32 classified crews of the Winter Marathon; the winner was, as in 2011, the Lancia Aprilia drived by Giuliano Canè and Gianmarco Rossi. Second and third place for the Porsche 356 C drived by Barcella-Ghidotti and the Innocenti Mini Cooper of Belometti-Passi

Through the website www.wintermarathon.it you can follow in real time all phases of the event. Thanks to the collaboration with Teletutto, the Italian Timekeeper Federation and Racelink you can follow both MotorStorica and TAG Heuer Barozzi trophies on the frozen lake from 13.20 hrs on Saturday 21 January and all race's results. Finally, through internet, you will know in real time the GPS position of all competitors during the race thanks to the On Board Units mounted on each vehicle.

The race is turning on, meanwhile the first snow falls in Trentino

While waiting CSAI 2012 seeding list we have to expect a very combactive race because of the presence of the best regularity specialist that also this year, fascinated by the race an by many PRIZES planned by Organizers, have not given up the event. Among them about 15 Top Driver as the 1000 Miglia Winner Giordano Mozzi, in his first experience in Madonna di Campiglio, and about 25 driver A. Also confirmed the presence of Ivan Capelli, former Formula 1 driver and now F1 World Championship commentator on Rai 1, which will compete on a official Volvo of Italian Registry. Yesterday, in the meantime, the first snow has finally fallen in Madonna di Campiglio confirming that winter has arrived, as you can see by the webcam of the Tourist Office reached by clicking the link below. Presented the 2012 edition at the Centro Porsche Brescia Saottini

Desenzano del Garda. In the beautiful location of Saottini Porsche Brescia Center the 24th edition of the Winter Marathon have been presented to competitors, authorities and sponsors. There were about 150 passionates who joined the eveningto listen all event news showed by relators. Ms. Beatrice Saottini for Saottini Porsche Brescia Center, Marco Masè presidento of APT Madonna di Campiglio, Ms. Carmen Righi representing CSAI sports authorities of Trentino, the famous sports journalist Ezio Zermiani supported by Roberto Vesco president of the Organizing Committee. Teletutto's journalist Andrea Cittadini presented the press conference. Organizers also wanted to thank all main sponsors by gave to their representatives one desk barometer set. The evening finally ended with a cocktail party set up inside the dealership. Next appointment is from 19 to 22 January for 2012 Winter Marathon.

Record at Auto e Moto d'Epoca. Many visitors to the Winter Marathon's stand

Over 65.000 visitors (+8% compared to 2010) stormed the 28th edition of the main european exhibition of historic motorsport which ended yesterday, Sunday 30 October 2011, at Padova Expo. Great success for the renewed Winter Marathon's thematic stand that, inside hall 15, has received a lot of fans and many drivers who have never attended the event and have requested more information about the race. Next step will be the official presentation held on 11 November at the Saottini Porsche Brescia Centre in Desenzano del Garda (BS). Padova comes alive. Many visitors to the 28th Auto e Moto d'Epoca expo

Also the second day of Auto e Moto d'Epoca, from this morning open to all visitors after the preview day of Thursday, has passed away; a high number of visitors have invaded PadovaFiere exhibition area from the early morning. Saturday and Sunday the predictions talk about an increase of visitors compared with last year's edition. Winter Marathons expect all visitors at its thematic stand in hall 15 where are available official both posters and brochures with the programme and all details that are needed to register the race.

Preview day for the 28th Auto e Moto d'Epoca Expo in Padova

Today is the preview day of the 28th edition of the most important european show of vintage cars and motorcycles. Today the entrance can be made only by invitation or by purchasing a Ticket Preview while from tomorrow until Sunday the entrance is free. Presentated the new stand Winter Marathon signed by Simone Vesco designer and visible in hall no. 15. Presented also the official poster already available at the stand as well as on the website under 'Programme' area.

Entries have opened for the 24th edition of the Winter Marathon

Entries are open for the 24th edition of the Winter Marathon that will take place in Madonna di Campiglio from 19 to 22 January 2012 and taht is reserved for cars built until 1968 both front and rear wheel drive. Entries must be improved through this website's online form and then sent to the Organizing Committee, accompanied by a copy of the car's identity fiche and by the entry fee. Through the form you can also choose about the crew's arrival on Thursday and add to share one or more person other than the crew. Entries close Sunday 20 November 2011.

24th Winter Marathon in Madonna di Campiglio from 19 to 22 January 2012

The traditional historic cars event returns from 19 to 22 January 2011. Thanks to the numerous 2011 participating crews (199 on 200 in the entry list), Winter Marathon is once again an important event among “classic regularity rallies” being scheduled in the CSAI calendar and reserved to classic cars built until 1968; some innovations (a new route and more precision time trials) have been introduced with the aim to improve and make the race even more exciting and glamorous.
