Winter Marathon 2010 – 22nd edition

The twenty-second edition of the Winter Marathon saw victory go to the Brescia-based crew of Pier Luigi Fortin and Laura Pilè in a small 1957 Fiat 600. Second overall was another Brescia-based crew, the young Michele Cibaldi and Andrea Costa in a 1963 Porsche 356 SC Coupé. Completing the podium were Alessandro Gamberini and Pier Luigi Nobili in the same reliable 1956 Fiat 1100/103 TV with which they triumphed in the 2008 edition.

On Saturday afternoon, as usual, the highly anticipated MotorStorica and TAG Heuer Barozzi trophies took place. In the first, reserved for open pre-war cars, victory went to the 1936 Riley Sprite TT of Indaco-Lupieri, while in the second, reserved for the top 32 crews from the night race, a tie-break was needed to determine the winner between D’Antinone-Perego and runners-up Fabbri-Bertieri, who repeated their second-place finish from the previous year behind Raimondi. Third place went to the Fiat 600 D Multipla of Gregori-Ghilardi, who prevailed in the consolation final over Gamberini-Nobili.

The record-breaking edition saw 196 crews start out of 200 entered, with 164 of them regularly reaching the finish line; fine weather characterised the entire event, while during the night temperatures on most of the 11 Alpine passes tackled remained below -8/-9°C, with a low of -13°C recorded on the Valparola Pass, one of the many new features of this edition.
