Winter Marathon 2018 – 30th edition
400 kilometres, 62 timed trials, 9 Dolomite passes tackled for the first time over 2 stages
The Brescia-based crew of Alberto Riboldi and Paolo Sabbadini won the UBI Banca Trophy, reserved for the winner of the 30th edition of the Winter Marathon, which concluded at 11:15 pm on Friday 19 January with the traditional parade in Piazza Righi in Madonna di Campiglio. Plenty of snow along the route and consistently cold temperatures (reaching -10°C on the Pordoi Pass) characterised an edition full of new features, starting with the route itself, contested over 2 stages for the first time and receiving excellent feedback from participants. Completing the podium were the 1963 Porsche 356 C Coupé of Guido Barcella and Ombretta Ghidotti, excellent runners-up after a very strong performance, and the 1937 Fiat 508 C of Alberto Aliverti and Alberto Maffi, who managed to remain on the podium after their victory the previous year.
Among the teams, victory went to Franciacorta Motori, which placed 3 crews in the top 4 positions; followed by Classic Team and Emmebi 70. Emanuela Cinelli and Elisabetta Roselli won the special classification reserved for female crews in a 1967 Mercedes-Benz 250 SL, while the best all-foreign crew was the Swiss husband-and-wife pairing Stefano and Susanna Ginesi in a 1970 Porsche 914/6.
