Winter Marathon 2013 – 25th edition

447 kilometres, 40 timed trials, 11 Dolomite passes in 13 consecutive hours of driving

Sicilian driver Antonino Margiotta, navigated by Turin-born Bruno Perno in a 1965 Morris Mini Cooper S of Club Orobico, succeeded Ezio Salviato in the Winter Marathon Roll of Honour, winning the twenty-fifth edition. Second place went to the 1940 Lancia Aprilia driven by Alberto Aliverti and Alberto Maffi (Franciacorta Motori), ahead of another Lancia Aprilia, a 1938 model driven by the Bologna-based couple Giuliano Canè and Lucia Galliani, representing Loro Piana Classic.

Perfectly passable roads characterised the route of the 2013 edition, made particularly demanding by the intense cold, with temperatures dropping to -15°C on the highest passes (Pordoi, Gardena and Valparola), while plenty of snow remained only along the roadside; the choice of Hotel Lupo Bianco, on the road to the Pordoi Pass, for the mid-race dinner was particularly appreciated.

In the afternoon the event resumed with the MotorStorica Trophy, won with a clean run by Gennaro-Giacomello in a 1938 Jaguar SS100. It was then time for the TAG Heuer Barozzi Trophy, where Margiotta-Perno completed their successful weekend by finishing ahead of Belometti-Cordioli, while in the final for third and fourth place Fontanella-Malta (Porsche 356 A Coupé, 1955) defeated Mauro Clerici and Deborah Restelli in a 1965 Porsche 356 SC Cabriolet.
