Winter Marathon 2015 – 27th edition

Alberto Aliverti and Alberto Maffi, representing the Franciacorta Motori team and winners of the 2014 Italian championship in the Top Car category, won the 2015 Winter Marathon thanks to a flawless performance that took them to the top step of the podium, finishing just a few penalties (260) ahead of the experienced duo Margiotta-Perno in a 1965 Volvo 1800S – already winners in Campiglio in 2013 and third the previous year – who, with 272 hundredths, in turn finished just two points ahead of the Piacenza-based crew Fontanella-Malta, competing in a 1955 Porsche 356 A Coupé.Among the teams, victory went to the Loro Piana Classic Car Team (thanks to the results achieved by Aghem-Conti, Patron-Casale and Canè-Galliani): second and third place went respectively to Franciacorta Motori and Classic Team. The first foreign crew was the San Marino pairing Bollini-Galassi in a 1957 Porsche 356 A Cabriolet, who finished ahead of the Germans Mach-Verhaelen (Volvo 121, 1959) and the Swiss duo Pasquale-Sibilia (1966 Jaguar S-Type), the latter also winners of the special classification reserved for female crews.

On Saturday afternoon, the spectacle resumed on the frozen lake in Madonna di Campiglio, packed as always, where the MA-FRA and TAG Heuer Barozzi Trophies took place: in the first, reserved for pre-war cars entered in the competition, victory went to the 1938 Fiat 508 C of Francesco and Giuseppe Di Pietra, while in the more traditional knockout trophy reserved for the top 32 crews classified in the Winter Marathon, victory went to the Mantua-based crew Luciano Lui and Guido Ceccardi in a 1953 Fiat 1100/103; the Classic Team representatives prevailed by just 3 hundredths in the final over the previous year’s winners Barcella-Ghidotti, while the third step of the podium was claimed by the Piacenza-based Fontanella-Malta crew.

A final mention goes to the fine victory of Benetti-Battagliola in the APT Trophy in a Porsche 356 Speedster, achieved on Thursday evening on the frozen lake specially illuminated for the occasion. Behind them were Roversi-Bellini in a 1954 Lancia Aurelia B20 and Scarabelli-Adorni in a 1966 Lancia Fulvia Coupé HF.
