Winter Marathon 2021 – 33rd edition

The crew of Edoardo Bellini and Roberto Tiberti claimed victory in the 33rd edition of the Winter Marathon, which concluded at 11:00 pm yesterday with the arrival of the crews in Piazza Righi in Madonna di Campiglio.

The Scuderia Franciacorta Motori representatives deservedly won a very demanding race due to the particularly harsh temperatures, made even more fascinating by the snow that had fallen along the route, finishing ahead of Alberto Aliverti and Stefano Valente in a similar 1937 Fiat 508 C; on the third step of the podium were Fabio and Marco Salvinelli of Scuderia Classic Team in a 1954 Fiat 1100/103.

Thanks to the valuable work of the local authorities, at around 12:00 pm on Friday 15 January, the Pordoi and Gardena passes – closed since the previous day due to strong winds at high altitude, snow accumulation and avalanche risk – were reopened, allowing the convoy to continue along the planned race route and avoiding a last-minute change prepared by the organisers, which would have inevitably resulted in the cancellation of 11 timed trials and 2 average speed trials.

First among the all-foreign crews were the Swiss pairing Ferruccio and Carlo Nessi in a 1965 Morris Mini Cooper S Mk I, making their first appearance in this competition, followed by Rudolf Hug and Peter Gerber (1965 Volvo PV544) and Daniele Perfetti and Ronnie Kessel in a 1967 Lancia Fulvia Sport 1.3.

Strong performances also came from former World Rally Champion Miki Biasion (Eberhard brand ambassador), competing in a 1968 Alfa Romeo 1750 GT Veloce and finishing 62nd overall, preceded in 44th place by well-known SKY Sport F1 personality Davide Valsecchi, at the wheel of a 1973 Fiat 124 Abarth Rally.

Among the teams, victory went to Franciacorta Motori , followed in order by Brescia Corse and 3T Auto e Moto d’Epoca; the top spot in the classification reserved for under-30 crews went to the Brescia-based Bonomi-Bossini crew in a 1955 Porsche 356 Speedster, ahead of Foresti-Sacco (1964 Porsche 356 C Coupé) and Mion-Lonardi (1972 Porsche 911 T 2.4).

The first edition of the Centro Porsche Brescia Trophy saw victory go to the Piacenza-based crew of Giovanni Pighi and Luigi Callegari in a 1951 356 B Roadster, who defeated Sergio Mazzoleni and Edrisio Carrara in a 1963 356 SC Coupé in the final; third place went to Mauro Argenti and Roberta Amorosa in a 1969 911 T 2.2.

Piacenza also played a leading role in the 5th edition of the Eberhard Trophy, with victory going to Massimo Bisi and Claudio Cattivelli in a 1963 Porsche 356 B Coupé, who in the final, with a time of 52″.02, defeated the 1937 Fiat 508 C of Alberto Aliverti (winner of the 2015 and 2017 editions of the Winter Marathon) and Stefano Valente, who recorded a time of 52″.08. Completing the podium were Ezio Sala and Gianluca Cioffi in a 1937 Lancia Aprilia, who defeated Fabio and Marco Salvinelli in a 1954 Fiat 1100/103 in the final for 3rd-4th place.
