Winter Marathon 2019 – 31st edition

After finishing second in 2018, Guido Barcella and Ombretta Ghidotti claimed victory and won the UBI Banca Trophy and two Eberhard chronographs awarded to the winning crew of this Winter Marathon, which concluded at 11:20 pm yesterday with the traditional parade in Piazza Righi in Madonna di Campiglio. Clear skies and consistently cold temperatures, reaching -14°C on the Pordoi Pass, characterised this 31st edition.

Completing the podium were the 1938 Fiat C of Franco Spagnoli and Giuseppe Parisi, who held the lead for a long time before making a route error on the road to the Pordoi Pass, followed by the Turin-based crew Gianmaria Aghem and Rossella Conti in the same 1965 Lancia Fulvia Coupé 1.2 that won the 2018 Rallye Monte-Carlo Historique.

Among the teams, victory went to Franciacorta Motori, which placed 3 crews in the top 10; followed by Emmebi 70 and Brescia Corse. Emanuela Cinelli and Elisabetta Roselli won the special classification reserved for female crews in a 1963 Fiat OSCA 1500 Cabriolet, while the best all-foreign crew was the friendly Japanese pairing Hiromichi Fukuda and Makoto Hirai in a 1965 Fiat 850 Coupé. The first Under 30 crew was the pair of 2000-born competitors Zeno Mion and Nadia Guidoccio in a 1964 Fiat 850 S.

First in the special Average Speed Trials classification (with a separate ranking and therefore not counted towards the Winter Marathon) were the Brescia-based Ezio Sala and Gianluca Cioffi in a 1937 Lancia Aprilia, with only 3 penalties over the 6 scheduled trials; followed by Piona-Colpani (Porsche 356 A Speedster, 1956) and Argenti-Amorosa (Porsche 911 T 2.2, 1969), both with 4 penalties.
