Winter Marathon 2025 – 37th edition

Alberto Aliverti and Yuri Merlo won the Winter Marathon.

With a dramatic twist at the end of the race, the Mantua-based duo, aboard a 1937 Fiat 508 C, claimed the prestigious victory in this demanding edition of the Winter Marathon, which saw no fewer than 130 cars at the start, representing 17 automotive brands and 8 nations.

For Alberto Aliverti, this was his third victory in the event, a success he had strongly pursued and achieved thanks to a very consistent race, above all through experience and maximum concentration across the 65 timed trials scheduled by the organisers – all valid for the final classification – which allowed him to finish more than 20 penalties ahead of Lorenzo and Mario Turelli of Scuderia Brescia Corse in a 1937 Lancia Aprilia, who only on the final trial managed to prevail over Fabio and Marco Salvinelli (Scuderia Nettuno Bologna) in a 1938 Fiat 508 C.

There was disappointment at the finish in Piazza Righi for the Bellini-Tiberti crew, the reigning champions and long-time race leaders, who made a serious calculation error just a few trials from the end and eventually finished in 6th place, immediately behind the two Barcella crews, classified respectively 4th (Guido with Ombretta Ghidotti) and 5th (Nicola with Simone Rossoni), both aboard a 1938 Fiat 508 C.

In the special classifications, notable results included the victory of Barcella-Rossoni in the Under-30 crew classification, and of Emanuela Cinelli and Luisa Deleuse Bonomi (Brescia Corse) in a 1969 Innocenti Mini Cooper Mk II. Among the foreign crews, first place went to the Portuguese pairing Duarte Freitas and Ana Margarida Dias in a 1974 MG B Roadster, while Mauro Argenti and Roberta Amorosa of Milano Autostoriche topped the Average Speed Trials classification in their 1969 Porsche 911 T.

Among the teams, another victory went to Franciacorta Motori, thanks to the results of the two Barcella crews (4th and 5th overall) and Bellini (6th), finishing ahead of Brescia Corse and 0-30 Squadra Corse.

The overall assessment of this 37th edition was positive, concluding at midnight in Piazza Righi with the arrival of the cars, thanks to the work of the organising staff supported by the timekeepers and course marshals positioned along a race route that had never been as long as this year (540 km); all 65 timed trials and 6 average speed trials (with 22 measurements) were successfully completed and validated, despite the low temperatures typical of the event, although they were milder than in previous editions.
