Third success for the young crew who outperformed their opponents by a wide margin; podium completed by two other 1938 Fiat 508 C with Barcella-Ghidotti in second and Salvinelli-Costa in third place
Edoardo Bellini and Roberto Tiberti have won the Winter Marathon 2024.
The young crew competing for Franciacorta Motori Team, on the same 1937 Fiat 508 C with which they won in 2021 and 2022, retained the lead of the race that they had taken after Thursday’s first stage and triumphed in Madonna di Campiglio during the night where they overtook the finish line in Piazza Righi with a wide gap compared to their immediate pursuers, both on 1938 Fiat 508 C: Guido Barcella and Ombretta Ghidotti, winners last year, who after a bad first stage climbed up the rankings from seventh to second place and Fabio Salvinelli and Andrea Costa who finished in third position after being second for a long time.
The organizers are satisfied with the overall progress of the race, which concluded without problems or accidents with the help of the service staff along the entire route and characterized by extreme cold which even reached -15°C on the Sella and Gardena passes, as always together with Pordoi among the most appreciated and photographed points.
In first place among the foreign crews were the englishmen Edoardo Ottochian and George Drayson on a 1960 Austin Mini Cooper S Mk I, while among Teams the success went to Franciacorta Motori which preceded, in order, Brescia Corse and Emmebi 70; the record in the ranking reserved for crews under 30 goes to the Barcella-Rossoni crew, sixth overall on a 1963 Porsche 356 C Coupé while the first female crew is that of Laura Bandera and Chiara Guindani on a 1971 Lancia Fulvia Coupé 1.3 S. First crew in the special ranking of the Regularity Test is the one made up of the crew from Sardegna Virdis-Giordo on a 1954 Porsche 356 Coupé.
Sensational 31st place overall for SKY Sport F1 face Davide Valsecchi, racing on a 1968 Lancia Fulvia Coupé Rallye 1.3 S co-drived by Luca Canali, qualified for the first time on the frozen lake trials scheduled for the afternoon. From 13.15 hrs the Sparco Trophy reserved for entirely foreign crews classified and, following, the Veriwatch Trophy reserved for the first 32 crews classified in the race, the winner of which will receive two watches from the Otopus collection.
