The 37th edition, scheduled from 23 to 26 January in Madonna di Campiglio, will be the longest ever featuring a demanding route of over 540 km to be tackled in two legs for a total of 17 hours of driving, 14 dolomite passes, 65 precision time trials and 6 average tests
Less than two months remain until the 37th edition of the Winter Marathon, scheduled in Madonna di Campiglio from 23 to 26 January 2025.
This edition promises to be far from ordinary, featuring a brand-new route of over 540 kilometers – set up by organizers again in 2 legs – making it the longest and most challenging Winter Marathon ever thanks to a total of 17 hours of driving and 14 dolomite passes with 65 precision time trials along with 6 average tests and 22 secret detections monitored via the reliable BE Traced GPS tracking system.
The race, anticipated by the usual accreditation and check-in procedures at the Savoia Palace Hotel and Piazza Sissi on Thursday 23 January from 11.00 to 17.00 hrs, will start at 19.00 from Piazza Righi with cars engaged on a 110 km route that, through Passo Tonale, will bring them to the passage control in Piazza XXVII Settembre in Ponte di Legno before the dinner at the recently renovated and expanded Ristorante La Baracca that will come before the return to Campiglio, with the first cars expected back at 23.00.
Friday 24 January, starting from 10.30 hrs, the second leg of 430 km through the most famous roads and dolomite passes of Trentino-Alto Adige: the first part will lead crews to lower Val Rendena, passing through Tione, over Passo Duron and Ponte Arche to the time control in Molveno where lunch break will be served at Alpenresort Belvedere with stunning views of the lake; at 13.15 cars will resume the route towards Andalo, Taio and Romeno climbing to the top of Passo della Mendola and proceeding to the next time control at the Golfclub in Appiano sulla Strada del Vino; after passing through Bolzano cars will ascend toward Tires, Passo Nigra and Passo Costalunga before descending into Val di Fassa with the transit from Canazei before the most challenging climb of the race towards the 2239 meters of Passo Pordoi; after the time control in the center of Arabba crews will ascend to Passo Campolongo, head toward Corvara, cross Passo Gardena and descend again into Val Gardena passing through Ortisei, Passo Pinei, Castelrotto and Fiè allo Sciliar that will anticipate the arrival in Bolzano at 20.30 hrs with dinner break at the Four Points by Sheraton inside the Fair.
The last part of the race after the break will include the passage over Passo Palade and then the return through Val di Non and Val di Sole towards the final time control in Folgarida waiting for the return of the first car in Piazza Righi in Campiglio expected by midnight.
The show will resume on Saturday 25 January at 13.15 hrs on the frozen lake of Campiglio with the performance of the two classic non-ranked show-trophies which will anticipate the farewell high altitude dinner with awards ceremony scheduled at 2100 meters of the Chalet Spinale, a modern refuge with restaurant and a breathtaking 360° view of Brenta Dolomites.
