This 36th edition will be one of the longest and most fascinating ever with 520 km racing, 16 hours driving, 15 dolomite passes, 65 precision time trials and 9 regularity tests (and 32 detections)
Work in progress for the 36th edition of the Winter Marathon, the 17th organized by Vecars, scheduled in Madonna di Campiglio from 18 to 21 January 2024.
With the first snow already falling to whiten the famous ski resort, organizers have recently set up the new race route of 520 kilometers – once again divided in 2 legs – which places this edition as one of the longest and most fascinating ever being able to count on a total of 16 hours driving and 15 dolomite passes, 65 time trials and 9 regularity tests with 32 secret detections (record) measured via the precise and reliable BE Traced GPS tracking system.
After accreditation and scrutineering operations scheduled at Savoia Palace Hotel and Piazza Sissi on Thursday 18 January from 11.00 hrs to 17.00, the race will start at 19.00 from the central Piazza Righi with cars engaged in a 120 km route that will lead them to the stamp control in Piazza XXVII Settembre in Ponte di Legno after the dispute of two series of trials in Folgarida and inside the Val di Sole Ice Track on Passo Tonale. After the dinner served at Ristorante La Baracca and the same trials held in reverse (a total of 16 precision and 3 regularity ones) the cars will return to Campiglio starting from 23.30.
Friday 19 January, from 10.30 hrs, the start of the second leg of 400 km through the most famous roads and dolomite passes of Trentino-Alto Adige: the first part will bring competitors back into Val di Sole with passages in Dimaro (where a new serie of trials is scheduled) and Fondo, the climb of Mendola Pass and, through the Safey Park in Vadena, up to the time control scheduled at FieraMesse Bolzano, with the race lunch served inside the Four Points by Sheraton; shortly before 14.00 hrs the restart from Bolzano will take the crews, through the Val d’Ega, over Lavazè (also in this case with new trials) and Pramadiccio Passes towards Val di Fiemme; once they have passed through Moena and Canazei the cars will face the fascinating climb towards Passo Sella – a welcome return with its 2240 meters – before the coffee break scheduled around 16.30 at Chalet Gerard, elegant hotel in Selva di Val Gardena perfectly integrated into the charm of the nature of the Sella Group, where competitors will be able to enjoy a short break enjoying the spectacular view of the Sassolungo.
After the restart crews will face Gardena Pass before descending to Corvara, climbing up the Campolongo Pass towards Arabba and then reaching the 2239 meters of Pordoi Pass, where a series of demanding trials will conclude. After the descent to Canazei and the return in Val di Fassa, competitors will climb Costalunga Pass towards Collepietra and will return to Bolzano around 20.00 with the race dinner scheduled again at the Four Points by Sheraton inside FieraMesse Bolzano.
The last part of the race after the break will include the passage over Palade Pass and then the return through Val di Non and Val di Sole towards last time trials and the final time control in Folgarida waiting for the return of the first car in Piazza Righi in Campiglio expected from 23.30 hrs.
The show will resume on Saturday 20 January at 13.15 hrs on the frozen lake of Campiglio with the performance of the two classic non-ranked show-trophies which will anticipate one of the pleasant news of this edition, the farewell dinner with awards ceremony scheduled at 2100 meters of the Chalet Spinale, a modern refuge with restaurant and a breathtaking 360° view of Brenta Dolomites.
